Free Tax Help!  For taxpayers with low- and moderate-income, with special attention to those age 60 and older.  Read on for dates and times, for information about what to bring with you when you come for assistance, and what forms AARP Tax-Aide can NOT prepare for you.  (There is also a link to the AARP Tax-Aide locator for locations that may be closer to you.)
  TAX YEAR: 2011 AARP Foundatino Tax-Aide

The AARP, in conjunction with the IRS,  is providing tax return preparation assistance this year at the Rosenberg Library beginning February 1, 2012.

No appointment is necessary.  Drop in to the Fox Room on the 3rd floor any time during the following dates and times:
Monday 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm
Wednesday & Friday 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM


What to Bring With You:  (if available)

checkCopy of last year's income tax return
checkW-2 forms from each employer
checkUnemployment compensation statements
checkSSA-1099 forms if you received Social Security benefits at any time during 2011
checkAll 1099 forms for interest and/or dividends, and documentation showing purchase price of sold assets
checkAny 1099-misc showing any miscellaneous income
check1099-B forms if you received a pension or annuity
checkAll forms which indicate federal income tax paid
checkDependent care provider information (name, employer ID, Social Security numbers)
checkAll relevant receipts or canceled checks if itemizing deductions
checkPicture ID
checkSocial Security cards or other official documentation for yourself and all dependents


Forms that AARP Tax-Aide can NOT prepare for you:

XSchedule C (Business Profit and Loss) if a loss or expenses exceed $10,000
XComplicated Schedule D without proper paperwork (Capital Gains and Losses)
XSchedule E (Rental Property) with expenses, including depreciation
XSchedule F (Farm Income)
X2106 - Employee Business Expense
X3903 - Moving Expenses
X8615 - Minor's Investment Income
XPortions of Schedule A and B that are not included in our training
XSchedule K-1 that involves depreciation or deductible expenses
XOther rental income or business income
