Interlibrary Loan is the process by which a library requests materials
from, or supplies materials to, another library. The purpose of
Interlibrary Loan is to obtain materials not available at Rosenberg
Library.
Interlibrary Loans are
handled at the 2nd floor desk by the Reference staff. Requests
may be e-mailed to
ill06@rosenberg-library.org by using the
World Cat database. Requests must include your name, mailing address,
Rosenberg Library card number, and contact phone number or e-mail.
The following policies apply:
A maximum of
2
interlibrary (ILL) requests per cardholder may be submitted.
The penalty for not
picking up an ILL requested by the cardholder is $1 to help cover postage.
This shipping fee is added to the cardholder’s record.
Rush orders cannot be accepted at this time.
Average receipt of ILL items is 14 days. Though we try our best, no
request is guaranteed. Other options can be discussed if the material is
essential.
Due dates are set by
our lending library before we receive the item, not when the cardholder
picks up the item from Rosenberg Library.
The blue
card on an
ILL is used to remind the cardholder of the policies and due date. It also
contains information necessary for library staff. A fee may be assessed if
the blue card is removed.
Loss of ILL privileges
may occur if interlibrary loan items are not picked up on 2
occasions, items are returned late or in a book-drop 3 times, or
damaged/lost items are not paid in full.
Patrons with a fine of $5 or
more cannot use Interlibrary Loan. Due dates must be
respected. A
fine of $1 per day will be applied to all late Interlibrary Loans.
The following items may be difficult
to obtain through Interlibrary Loan:
Books that are the subject of a new film, audiovisual materials, and
genealogical research materials.
The following may not be requested
through Interlibrary Loan:
· Materials
owned by Rosenberg Library (unless overdue for 4 weeks)
· Current
bestsellers and items published within 3 months
·
Rare Books, reference books or
magazines (except copies of specific pages)
· Videos
and Music
· Software
